Red Squirrel Family Fun Day

Gortin Glen Forest is home to a resident popultion of Red Squirrels with some of them making their homes, or dreys, in the proximity of the Forest Classroom!

The Forest Guide and Biodiversity Officer for Omagh District Council will run a range of activities in the Forest Classroom including scheduled talks on red squirrel conservation, how to record your sightings of red or grey squirrels and lead on out 'on the trail' of red squirrels in the Forest.

What to Bring

Please dress appropriately for all weathers so that includes bringing a raincoat and wear sturdy shoes.

The classroom will be open from 2-4pm. Children must be accompanied by their parents or guardians.

What's Included

This is a free event. There will be leflets and information on red squirrel conservation to take away on the day.

Directions to Location

Gortin Glens Forest Park is situated about six miles north of Omagh on the B48 Gortin Road. The Park is sign-posted from the main road, on the right-hand side if coming from Omagh direction. Follow the park road into the Forest and park in the main car park where the classroom is located.
