Try Canoeing Day on River Bann

Enjoy canoeing in a safe and fun environment, try Gilford’s new flat water slalom course. This is an ideal opportunity for beginners and experienced people to “Have a go”.

This innovative facility comprises a 115m permanent flat water beginners’ slalom course and 2 new canoe landings at each end of the course.

This event is run by Banbridge Canoe and Kayak Club, in association with Banbridge District Council and welcomes people of all ages and abilities to come and have a go!

Pre-bookings have now closed for this event however there maybe some spaces available on the day.

What to Bring

Wear on the day:

Swimming Costume

Wetsuit (if you have one)

Or Track suit / Shorts

T shirt/s (no football tops).

Wetsuit Booties or Trainers

A FULL change of clothes will be needed

A towel

Shampoo/shower gel

Inhalers and any other medication you require


We will try to accommodate everyone who wants to paddle. Canoeing has its own risks and we as instructors try to mitigate those risks through good training, good equipment but most of all the ability to make good choices gained from experience.

People caring for or who has a reduced immune system (illness/pregnancy) should avoid paddling in open water.

Minimum Age & Activity Length

Our minimum age is 9 years old, each session will last a MAX of 45 min but we might reduce this time depending on the number of paddlers.
